Thanks to VisualSVN server's backend apache service, I can browse the list of repositories using a web browser, but NOT using TortoiseSVN (which would be infinitely more convenient when searching for the right project to check out). I can use svnadmin dump to backup at root level, how to backup the multiple repositories under root. One drawback to this approach is that - using TortoiseSVN's repo browser - we'd like to see a list of all the project repositories on our server, and select the appropriate one but we can't. Some time back, I got multiple repositories setup under root in VisualSVN server, now I got to backup these multiple repositories. I've decided to go the "Multiple repositories for multiple projects" route, as we'd like to keep revision numbers independent for each project. So far everything is very convenient using the VisualSVN Server package - I especially like the ability to import users through Active Directory. There are only a few steps to get started, and Subversion repositories replication across multiple sites can be configured in minutes.
Both VisualSVN Server and VisualSVN Distributed File System are native on Windows, interoperable with other systems and work out of the box.
